Smart Grid Integration

Currently, ISO New England, the organization that is responsible for maintaining the reliability of the transmission resource, has a demand-response program that pays customers to cut back on load, or add customer-based generation.

Meter technology has become sophisticated and inexpensive, for a few thousand dollars, smart meters can provide the REDONA Energy System all the information needed to remotely monitor loads and generation.  This enables REDONA to develop systems that use algorithms that integrate with the ISO-NE spot market prices with customer generation and loads, providing maximum flexibility to the electric grid, resulting in lowest costs.

This smart grid software will be very useful to utilities throughout New England, the U.S. and the rest of the world.  The software will become a basis for a second-generation product that will have even greater demand.

Every utility buys and sells power on an hourly basis and a software tool will be very useful in checking the assumptions that are used for these transactions.
